Editor's review
Analogue Vista Clock is an outstanding quality alarm clock for the desktop. It comes with real time rendered vista-style skins, and more can be downloaded. It can play one of it`s build-in alarm sounds or any other external sound file.
Pros: Analogue Vista Clock is a nice looking analogue clock face that derives the time information from the system time. The position of its appearance is fixed at the top right hand corner of the screen. Any changes that are required can be done to the icon that’s available in the system tray.
There are six odd skins that can be selected, if need be a large number of skins can be downloaded from the publisher’s site. One can change the translucency of the clock depending on how much of the information in that corner of the screen needs to be visible.
The circumference of the clock face also is easily selectable and changes immediately on the clock displayed. All the changes are controlled by right and left click of the mouse on the tray icon. Left click selects the time, time zone and dates etc. While on right click one gets a pop up that lets you change the settings of the clock, size, appearance, alarm settings, size and all the rest. The alarm can be the built in sound or one can choose one’s own audio files and that can be randomized too. Wake up alarm can be defined for days of the week one needs it, the alarms could be of the gradual wake up style and one can arrange to wake up the machine too if it had been allowed to go into hibernation.
Cons: Placement of the clock is not changeable. That is an inconvenience. Like any other window, this should have been movable by the mouse. Though the translucency setting helps a little bit, but is an irritation if something has to be observed at that corner of the screen.
Overall: Very simple and nice looking analog clock application. It is very easy to customize. Overall the application gets a rating of 4 stars.
